Privacy Policy
This is the same text shown inside the app. It was written to describe what Tradeonomist actually does, and every factual claim in it is checkable against the code.
What is collected
Account: your email address and the name you give at sign-up, which is shown as your display name and can be changed.
Onboarding answers: your experience level, what you trade, your goal, and your own rating of your discipline. These set your learning goal and which lessons you are shown.
What you do in the app: which lessons you have read, your daily discipline answers and your streak. The text of a daily reflection is not stored: it is sent to the AI provider to read the trades in it, and only what you confirm is saved — the trades, which rules you kept or missed, and why you took them.
Trades: whatever you log by hand, and — only if you connect a brokerage — the trade history your broker reports through SnapTrade. This includes instrument, dates, quantities, and profit or loss. If you import a CSV file, the file is read on your device and the trades in it are stored; the file itself is not kept. A planned stop and target on a trade are stored with it.
Tax residence: Canada or the United States, if you set it, so that superficial-loss or wash-sale flags and the tax-year report apply the right rule.
Trades you passed on: if you record a trade you considered and did not take, its ticker, the reason you give and any note you add.
Feedback: messages you send us from the app, so we can read and answer them.
Images: a picture you choose to have read is sent for reading and is not stored by Tradeonomist.
AI coach: on Ultimate, the weekly note and the messages you send in the coach chat and the answers you get. These are stored in your account, can be seen only by you, and are deleted with your account.
Other instruments: if you tell us during setup that you also trade futures or forex, that answer is stored so we can see how many people want it. It changes nothing else.
Display preferences: your theme, and a base currency if you set one. A base currency changes how figures are shown and never rewrites what is stored — every trade keeps the currency it happened in.
Device: a push notification token if you allow notifications, plus your time zone so that a "day" means your day.
Purchases: if you subscribe, your plan, whether you are in a free trial, its renewal date, and which store it was bought through. Card and payment details go to Apple or Google and never to Tradeonomist.
Diagnostics: when the app hits an error, it records what broke — the error message, the technical stack trace, the screen you were on, your app version, and your device model and OS version. Email addresses, access tokens and long digit sequences are stripped out on your device before anything is sent. It is used to fix faults and nothing else.
Steps completed: the app records which screens and steps you complete — for example finishing onboarding, saving a reflection, sealing a day, or viewing the upgrade screen — as a short list of named events with a timestamp, in Tradeonomist’s own database. It holds no reflection text, coach text, trade details or amounts, is first-party only, is shared with no third party, is not sold, and is not used for advertising. It is used to see where people get stuck and to improve the app.
From the website, if you use it: the email address you enter on the early-access form or on the Rule Check tool, the page you entered it from, the country your network appears to be in, and how many times you have submitted. Rule Check also keeps the answers you gave it — the days you traded, which four rules you chose, and the two numbers you gave for each. It is kept so we can tell you when the app ships and so we can see whether the tool is any use. You do not need an account for any of this, and none of it is joined to one.
Who else sees it
Supabase — hosting, database, and authentication. All app data lives there.
Anthropic — the language model provider. It receives the text of a daily reflection (to extract the trades described in it), an image you choose to have read (to extract the trade shown in it), and, when the AI coach writes a note or answers you, summaries of your own record, your recent closed trades (date, ticker, result, currency, entry reason and rules kept or missed) and your question. Each is sent for that purpose only. The image is not stored by Tradeonomist. We also keep a count of how many tokens each call used, for cost tracking, with no text.
Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use what the app sends to train its models, and keeps it only for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring before deleting it.
Before anything you type is sent to the AI provider, the app removes things that look like email addresses, phone numbers, card or account numbers, government ID numbers, passwords and access keys.
Reading a reflection and reading a picture can both misread. You see what was read, and can correct it, before it is saved.
SnapTrade — the brokerage aggregator, if you choose to connect a broker. Your brokerage credentials go to SnapTrade or your broker directly and never to Tradeonomist.
Expo — relays push notifications to Apple and Google. It receives your device’s push token and the text of each notification, and nothing else about you.
Resend — sends email on Tradeonomist’s behalf. It receives your account email address and the text of the message. We use it to send the daily reminder by email when a push notification cannot reach you (you can turn this off in Settings → Notifications), and for service messages to administrators.
RevenueCat — processes subscription purchases on Tradeonomist’s behalf. It receives your Tradeonomist account ID (a random identifier, not your email), the purchase, free-trial, renewal and refund history the App Store or Google Play reports, and the device details a purchase needs (platform, app version, store country). It is told nothing about your trades.
Apple and Google — delivery of push notifications to your device, and billing for paid plans, including the payment method that holds a free trial. We never see card numbers.
YouTube (Google) — lesson videos are hosted on YouTube. A video loads only when you tap it, in YouTube's privacy-enhanced player inside the app; YouTube (Google) then handles that playback under its own privacy policy.
No market data provider receives anything about you at this time.
Google — only if you choose Continue with Google: Google confirms who you are and shares your name, email address and profile picture with Tradeonomist. Tradeonomist receives no Google password and no access to anything else in your Google account.
That is the complete list of parties that receive anything about you. There are no advertising networks, no data brokers, and no analytics SDKs in the app — crash and error diagnostics are stored in Tradeonomist’s own Supabase project rather than sent to a third-party reporting service. Daily exchange rates are fetched by the server from a public European Central Bank feed, which is asked for a currency pair and told nothing about you.
What is deliberately not built
No leaderboard, ranking, or comparison by profit and loss, trade size, or account value. Comparison features report discipline and consistency only.
Where the app shows you how you compare with other users, it shows an average across a group at your rank — never an individual, and never a name. If fewer than five other people qualify, the figure is withheld rather than averaged from a handful, because a small average is both meaningless and capable of identifying someone.
Where it is stored, and for how long
Data is stored on Supabase infrastructure. Depending on the project region this may be outside your country, including in the United States, where it can be subject to local law.
Your data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account removes your profile, discipline history, trades, trades you passed on, lesson progress, coach notes and messages, and feedback you sent, and revokes any brokerage connection: the brokerage authorization at SnapTrade is revoked and the stored connection credential is deleted. Routine database backups expire within 30 days, after which deleted data is gone from them too.
Some records are deleted sooner, even while your account exists: crash and error diagnostics after 90 days without recurring; the record of which app steps you completed, and your notifications, after 13 months (a level-up notice is kept so the same level is never announced twice); counts of AI usage, kept for cost accounting, after 25 months. An email address given on this website without creating an account (early access or the rule check) is deleted after 6 months. Coach messages are kept with your account and deleted with it.
Your rights
You can see everything the app holds about you inside the app itself, export a statement as a PDF, and delete your account from Settings.
Depending on where you live you may also have rights under Canada’s PIPEDA, the GDPR, or state privacy laws — including access, correction, deletion, and objection. Write to the address below and these will be honoured regardless of where you live.
Tradeonomist does not sell personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
You can correct your profile, trades and answers in the app, or ask us to.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information. US residents may contact their state attorney general.
US state privacy rights (California and other states)
If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access it, to delete it, and to correct it.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

If something goes wrong
If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected users and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires, and we keep a record of every breach.
This website
tradeonomist.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs for security.
Children
Tradeonomist is not for anyone under 18 and does not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and it will be removed.
Changes and contact
Material changes will be shown in the app before they take effect, with a new effective date.
